Story :Lin Zhi Xiao, who is a budding cellist and a junior in the music department at her university is determined to achieve her dreams. Her world comes to a grinding halt when her father is hospitalized and diagnosed with cancer; she and her mother must face many uncertainties. Gu Wei, the doctor in charge of her father's treatment who has been going through a rough time of his own, enters her life firstly in a most awkward and unexpected way. However, as they get to know each other, they begin to form an understanding. As time progresses, they start growing closer. But will love follow -- and will they be able to finally find the happiness that they both need so much?


 Review/Rant

I want to start off by saying that I am a massive fan of both the FL and the ML. I also like the second ML in the drama. I have watched the drama two times. The first time was during a period when I wasn't feeling well, so I couldn't really remember much. Therefore, I binge-watched the whole drama in three days.

Now, the story is more real-life based. The ML works in the hospital, and the FL's father gets sick. I honestly loved the first few episodes and found the whole thing relatable and easy to follow. The acting was good, and I felt the leads had a good connection with each other. However, something just didn't hit the mark with me. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't loving the drama, and then it hit me... I was bored. Nothing made me burn or get overly invested, and it left me with a very vanilla feeling throughout the series. Now, I'm a big vanilla fan. It's my favorite ice cream. But when it comes to dramas, you want to be overly invested. You want to cry and feel angry at their losses and wins. While it was an okay drama, I wasn't feeling it like I hoped I would. Overall, the drama was okay, but it didn't leave me feeling much of anything, really. The leads did a good job, but it wasn't life-changing or as good as other dramas or movies they had been in.

In terms of rewatch value, it's not really there.

Mommy's Counterattack (2023) review/rant spoiler warning 4/10 stars

Yun is forced to leave the country. Five years later, after becoming a top model and well-known fashion designer, she returns to get her revenge and infiltrates Jiang's house as a nanny. Rest of the story is how she gets her revenge, proves her innocence and solves the misunderstanding between husband and wife. Review/Rant :   This has to be one of the shortest dramas I've watched, honestly 16 episodes at about 13 to 15 minutes, so it's about the length of a movie.
