Mommy's Counterattack (2023) review/rant spoiler warning 4/10 stars
Story: Five years ago, Yun and Jiang Ling separated due to infidelity and death of their child. Yun is forced to leave the country. Five years later, after becoming a top model and well-known fashion designer, she returns to get her revenge and infiltrates Jiang's house as a nanny. Rest of the story is how she gets her revenge, proves her innocence and solves the misunderstanding between husband and wife.
Review/Rant :
This has to be one of the shortest dramas I've watched, honestly 16 episodes at about 13 to 15 minutes, so it's about the length of a movie. I am more than grateful for the shortness of the whole drama, honestly. No one but the child has any redeeming qualities in my opinion. The ML was unlikable and wishy-washy in his character. He acted above everyone and clearly did not think much of his wife if he could drop her like a hot potato without fact-checking. I would rather stay single my whole life than spend a day as this guy's wife.
Now the FL, really made me rage if someone told me my child had died, in what world would you not check that? I mean really!! It's your baby, and you're not trying to tear the hospital apart. She did nothing to check any of it!! WHAT!!. Then the fact as a person, she was all over the place. Her family sucked and only favored the other daughter who was a crazy person, and here I am thinking I am totally wasting my time watching this...
I want to throw in the towel, but I stuck it out and watched the whole drama, but there was little to like, and I had to really pull to carry on. The son was super cute, and I liked his sweet moments. I felt like the story could have been better overall if they had made the whole thing feel more true to life rather than the direction it went.
I can't really say I would tell people to watch this because I will never watch this trash again.
